In 2024 from mid-May to late August, this was my first time freelancing as a developer with a game studio, and it was quite an experience working with a team. I learned a lot, from the work pipeline to new coding techniques even game designing, just by collaborating with a small team.

the work I did in this project:

Tutorial scene (Collaborate with the game designer to create a player-friendly introduction to the game's mechanics and game world.)

Rules system this was quite most experienced I have got from this project; this system was a unique way to make a point-and-click game not feeling so redundance, What I learned here was an OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) system designed to randomly assign new rules to players each time they play. I need to create a dynamic system capable of handling new rules for different levels and the overall system for each required rule.

Mini-game rework Since the game started with a small team, some legacy systems were implemented. I need to ensure these old systems are compatible with the new game design. Therefore, I must review the old scripts to ensure the new ones don't deviate significantly from the original, allowing any new developer to understand and determine what needs to be fixed or utilized.

Through these tasks, I not only honed my technical skills but also gained a deeper appreciation for the importance of collaboration and clear communication in game development. Each challenge taught me something new, from debugging legacy systems to innovating with dynamic rule sets.

Overall, this project taught me valuable lessons in coding, game design, and collaboration. I’m excited to bring this experience to future opportunities in game development.
